The new Regulation (EU) 2023/2411
The new Regulation (EU) 2023/2411, which came into force on 16 November 2023, introduced rules in all member States aimed at protecting artisanal and industrial products within the territory of the European Union.
The Regulation, applicable from 1 December 2025, introduces the possibility of submitting in Italy an application for registration of a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) for artisanal and industrial products, extending to these products - such as natural stones, objects in wood, jewellery, fabrics, lace, cutlery, glass, porcelain, leather and skins - the same protection now provided for geographical indications protected in the agri-food sector, and will allow local and regional territories and productions to be promoted internationally.
